The National Civil Police (PNC) was accused tonight of the murder of 3 police officer Maximinio Antonio Vásquez Rodríguez, on May 16 in the municipality of Nueva Concepción, in the department of Chalatenango.
“For these 3 terrorists from MS13, the future awaits them. #Blind As punishment for his crime,” the police corporation said.
Those captured have been identified as Salvador Enrique Portillo Landaverde, known as C4; Jose Armando Ochoa Gutierrez, Sabo, Verde or Viejo Montes; and Francis Antonio Gomez Calderon, Monkey or Mono.
Defense Minister Gustavo Villatoro was also present during the action before the press, who pointed out that the arrest was a sign that the defense cabinet was committed to the transformation of the country. “The capture of these 3 cowardly terrorists is an example to the community that the Defense Cabinet, which we represent, is committed to making this country a country governed by the rule of law,” he said.
After the killing of the agent, a strong manhunt for those involved was mounted in and around the area, while President Nayeb Bukele ordered a military cordon of 5,000 soldiers and 500 police officers to pursue the terrorists.
“A military siege with 2 missions, one to deliver justice against the cowardly killers of our police officer Maximino Vásquez, and the other to eliminate the Fulton Locos Salvatruchos group from the municipality of Nueva Concepción,” added Villatoro.
The gunman, the person who shot the police officer, has been identified among those arrested. The subject has been identified as 27-year-old Portillo Landaverde, alias C4, who is the gunman in the gang.
President Bukele on his part reiterated that the arrests have fulfilled the promise that those responsible for the killings will be brought to justice. We promised them they would pay dearly for our hero’s murder. We destroyed your gang, we arrested your comrades, we arrested your leader and today we arrested 3 killers. They will never again cause terror in our country,” he said.
