Lalo Rodriguez will be laid to rest at the Ehret Funeral Home and the City of Carolina will pay his respects

The Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) indicated that the singer’s family had gone through the process of remote identification of the body.

Director of ICF Dr. Maria Conte Miller said Wednesday that the autopsy process has not yet been completed.

“It’s being done now,” the doctor answered questions from reporters shortly before noon after completing a graduation ceremony for 12 new forensic specialists.

The doctor added, “I don’t have the details (of the autopsy) yet because, if it happened only yesterday, the pathologist on duty is practicing it today.”

As the process nears completion, Lalo Rodriguez’s family, through a friend, chiropractor Fidel Estrada, is coordinating what will be a funeral. So far it has been decided that there will be a wake at Ehret Funeral Home in Rio Piedras. Then there will be a tribute in a Carolina municipality, which has yet to be determined. The burial will take place in the artist’s hometown because, according to Estrada, the salsa singer expressed his desire not to have his body cremated.

Dates for these events will be determined from the moment the ICF delivers the body for cremation and can coordinate visits for relatives living off-island. They are predicted to occur between Monday and Wednesday next week.

Lalo Rodriguez was found dead near a field in the Sabana Abajo residential area on Tuesday afternoon. He showed no signs of violence. He is 64 years old.

Police, based on observations, say he may have had a natural complication of his condition or an overdose of a controlled substance.
