The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said Monday that Russian forces are focusing their efforts on offensive operations in eastern Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces have repelled 81 Russian attacks in Kubyansk, Lyman, Pakmut, Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk, and “the threat of Russian missile attacks remains high across Ukraine,” it said.
“The enemy is trying to destroy the critical infrastructure of our country, and is carrying out continuous attacks and artillery shelling against civilian facilities and civilian homes,” the general staff said. “The enemy continues to carry out aerial reconnaissance to adjust their attacks.”
Civil servants said two of the Russian attacks were carried out using Shahed-136 unmanned aerial vehicles against civilian infrastructure. Both drones were shot down.
Russian forces fired more than 50 rounds from multiple anti-missile rocket systems at civilian infrastructure in southern Donetsk region and Kherson region, civil servants said.
“Civilians have been killed and injured, civilian buildings destroyed and civilian infrastructure damaged,” he added.
Russia’s attacks in the past 24 hours have killed at least one person and wounded two others in the Kherson region, the regional military administration said.
“They fired from multiple rocket launchers, mortars, artillery, tanks, UAVs and infantry fighting vehicles,” he said.
