Governors Who Defect To APC Lack Conscience – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says his counterparts who defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lack conscience.

There have been reports on the move of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara dumping the PDP for APC.

Speaking at the flag-off of Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road and bridge on Tuesday, Wike said those defecting from PDP after riding on the back of the party to power have proven that they are treacherous.

Nnamdi Kanu Was Not Arrested In UK – British Govt

The British High Commission says Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was not arrested in the UK.

The fugitive leader of the outlawed group was arrested on Sunday, according to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Malami had said Kanu was arrested through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services. However, he neither gave details of the operation nor stated where Kanu was arrested.

Buni Declares Matawalle Leader Of Zamfara APC, Dissolves State Exco

The National caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mai Mala Buni has announced the dissolution of Zamfara APC executive council from wards, local government to state level.

Buni spoke during the formal defection of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to the APC in Gusau, the state capital. He said Matawalle would remain the leader of the party in the state and the party exco stands dissolved, urging all stakeholders to support the governor in delivering good governance.

Speaking at the event, former Governor Abdulaziz Yari said he had accepted the party’s decision and he would be ready to offer all necessary support to Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to succeed.

Senate Okays Bills To Establish Health Sciences Varsity, ICT Institute In Benue, Niger

The Senate yesterday passed a bill to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.

Also passed was a bill for the establishment of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Suleja.

The passage of both bills followed the consideration of two separate reports by the Committees on Health (Secondary and Tertiary); and Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND. The chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe, said the passage of the bill seeking to establish the University of Medical Sciences, Otukpo, would give legal backing to the institution which is already in existence.

Many Universities Awarding Fake Certificates – JAMB Registrar

The registrar of the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, says many institutions are still awarding certificates to people who do not attend universities.

He warned that awarding of fake university certificates to people is dangerous to the development of the education system in the country.

He spoke in Abuja yesterday during the opening ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps 2021 batch B pre-mobilisation workshop.
