APC: North Central Govs Eye National Chair Post

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention slated for June, governors in the North Central geo-political zone have said they will work to ensure the position of national chairman of the party is given to the zone.

Chairman of the North Central Governors Forum (NCGF), Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, stated this on Tuesday while receiving the North Central APC Stakeholders Forum during an advocacy visit.

Bello said, “As the chairman of the North Central Governors Forum, I have called a meeting of the governors and we agreed that we should not be left out. There are many aspirants from the North West and North East.”

Afe Babalola Donates N50m For ’Emergency National Conference’

Legal luminary and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola, has announced a self-sponsored national conference tagged, ‘Summit of Hope’ to find urgent ways out of the current crisis facing Nigeria.

Babalola, SAN, also donated N50m to the said conference, which is to take place at his university in Ado Ekiti, anytime from now.

Chief Babalola spoke during the 10th Aare Afe Babalola Annual Public Lecture, organised by the Ado Ekiti branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Regime Change: You’re Haunted By Your Shadow, PDP Tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has resorted to blackmail in the face of failure.

The party was responding to the allegation by the presidency that some Nigerians were plotting a forceful and undemocratic change of leadership.

In a statement by the party spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said rather than taking charge and securing the nation, the Presidency is busy engaging in frivolous allegations against Nigerians.

Coup Alarm: Nigerians Tired Of Rhetoric, NEF Tells Presidency

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has accused the Presidency of scaring Nigerians with the rhetoric of subversion.

Reacting to the alarm raised over the alleged attempt to overthrow President Muhammadu Buhari, the Director, Publicity and Advocacy of the Forum, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, asked the current administration to deal with the problems facing the country.

The NEF, on Tuesday, told Daily Trust that there was no point telling Nigerians that some unnamed citizens were plotting a forceful and undemocratic change of leadership in the country if the Presidency could not use the mechanism available to it to deal with the situation. He challenged the Presidency to mention the plotters it claimed were recruiting some leaders of ethnic groups and the alleged ethnic groups.
