LG Polls: Mixed Reactions As 38 Aspirants Fail Kaduna APC Exams

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) examination for chairmanship aspirants in Kaduna State.

Daily Trust gathered that over 100 aspirants participated in the examination as part of the party’s screening exercise for aspirants ahead of its primaries slated for Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

The result released on Saturday showed that 75 aspirants out of 115 that sat for the examination were declared suitable to participate in the primaries. However, 38 other aspirants were declared unsuitable following their poor performance at the examination.

Mind Your Utterances, DSS Warns Clerics ‘Threatening Buhari’s Govt’

The Department of State Services (DSS) has alleged that religious and political leaders who have either called for forceful change of government or mass action are collaborating with external forces seeking to plunge Nigeria into crisis.

Apparently referring to the recent comments made by prominent Nigerians on the ongoing insecurity, the Service, through its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, accused some clerics and prominent leaders of making divisive comments.

The service warned that it will ”no longer tolerate deliberate machinations by subversive and hostile groups whose agenda is to throw the country into anarchy so as to serve the interests of their sponsors.”

Alleged Threats: Police Deploy Horses, Motorcycles For Intelligence Gathering In FCT

Horses, motorcycles and other detection tools would be deployed for intelligence gathering in the Federal Capital Authority (FCT), police authorities said on Sunday.

The FCT Joint Security Team also described as “fake news”, a viral publication on social media alleging that the territory was under heavy attack by the Boko Haram terrorists.

The joint security team was constituted for effective security coordination in Abuja and its environs in the wake of the worsening security situation in the country.

Uneasy Calm As Police Desert Streets In South East

Policemen posted to the South East are seeking redeployment following the spate of killings of security operatives in the region, Daily Trust on Sunday has learnt.

Tens of policemen have lost their lives in several attacks on police formations across the South East as the region has recorded more than fifty attacks on security formations and killings of operatives in the South East by suspected members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, in recent times.

Most of the cities in the region have also become a ghost town as businesses are forced to close early to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

Al-Makura: I Will Contest For APC Chairmanship If Zoned To North Central

A former governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has said he will contest for the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress if zoned to the North Central.

Al-Makura, who is a senator at the National Assembly, representing Nasarawa South constituency, made the statement when his campaign coordinators in the 13 local government areas in the state from 2010 to date, led by the majority leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Mr Tanko Tunga (APC Awe North), visited him in his personal residence in Lafia.

The immediate past governor, who is a leading contender for the office of the National Chairman of the ruling party in Nigeria, commended them for the visit, appreciating Governor Abdullahi Sule for taking the leading role in the campaign for his APC chairmanship ambition. Senator Al-Makura stated this in a statement signed by his press secretary, Mr Danjuma Joseph, and made available to the Daily Trust in Lafia on Sunday.
