Don’t Succumb To Blackmail, MURIC Tells Pantami

Pantanmi, who described the campaign for him to step down as politically motivated, renounced some the controversial statements he made in the past. But that did not stop those who asked President Muhammadu Buhari to fire him from continuing with their campaign.

In a statement issued by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC said everyone has their past. “A section of the Nigerian press published reports of calls being made by some people for the resignation of Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami over the fake news that the US had placed him on its watchlist. The second allegation was that the minister had made certain radical pronouncements in the past. “It is a baseless call and it should be ignored. Afterall, the US itself has denied it. Dr. Pantami has been enjoying unhindered multiple entry to the US for a very long time. Even Facebook, the US based social media giant had Pantami’s picture on Facebook’s digital board for several hours as a mark of honor and respect during one of his numerous visits to that country.

PDP Wades In As Kano Chapter Crisis Deepens

Crisis in the Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened yesterday as a faction of the party “purportedly” suspended a former governor of the state, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, however said Kwankwaso as a member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) can’t be easily suspended without following the provisions of the party’s constitution.

“The PDP states clearly that Senator Kwankwaso is not suspended from the party. Any claim of suspension by any individual or group, purporting to be representing any organ of our party at any level, is a mere fabrication and should be discountenanced,” the party said.

We’ll Wrest Power From APC In 2023 — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said its victory in the Rivers State local government election shows it will wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.

PDP won all the 23 local government areas as well as the 319 wards in the state in the weekend polls. It said in a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, that the victory confirmed that APC and its leaders have lost all footholds not only in the state but also in the South South region and the nation at large.

“The PDP says the election has shown that the APC only exists in the empty boasts of their few disoriented leaders, who have lost credence in the sight of the people and are only hanging around waiting for President Buhari to complete his second and final term in office,” the party said.
