Tambuwal led PDP governors to stop Governor Matawalle’s alleged planned defection to APC

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State

Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), senators and other top party chieftains led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Wednesday visited Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to stop his alleged planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governors who met with Matawalle alongside Tambuwal in Gusau, the state capital, were; Seyi Mankinde (Oyo), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa).

The Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, had on Monday alongside the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, visited Matawalle and donated N50million to victims of Gusau market fire.

Speaking at the visit yesterday, Tambuwal announced the donation of N100million from the PDP Governors Forum, adding that the visit by APC governors to Gusau was political.

He berated the APC governors for taking advantage of peoples misfortunes in Gusau to play politics.

“We can’t be intimidated by federal might, Zamfara is our home and no visitor can supplant the homeowner.

“I pity leaders that seek to take advantage of people’s misfortune for their selfish interest. Governor Matawalle is our brother and we are going to work with him come rain come shine,” Tambuwal said.

In his response, Governor Matawalle noted that since the PDP has come to tender their apology, the apology is accepted.

“If a crying child is abandoned by his mother by the roadside, he takes help from whoever offers it to him,” he added.
