A former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has criticised Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over his plan to construct a flyover with a loan at the Hotoro roundabout in Kano Metropolis.

The former governor faulted Ganduje for acquiring a loan of N20bn for the project, which he said was the responsibility of the federal government and not the state government.

Recall that Gov Ganduje had within the week visited President Muahammdu Buhari and presented the prototype of a three-level road interchange along the Kano-Maiduguri road which will be named after the president. But Kwankwaso in an interview with BBC Hasua Service yesterday said, “Even though we need flyovers in Kano, but what people need the most in the state is education. They need to focus more on our children to be educated and get entrepreneurial skills to depend on themselves.

NIN Mandatory For UTME Registration, Says JAMB

The Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said the board introduced the use of National Identity Number (NIN) for the registration of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to checkmate examination malpractices.

Oloyede who noted that the directive for the use of NIN as a prerequisite for registration was from the Minister of Education, said the motive was also for security reasons.

The JAMB Registrar spoke in Abuja on Friday during a virtual meeting with owners of Computer Based Test Centres, service providers and other stakeholders to kickstart the 2021 UTME registration. He said they don’t even require the name of the candidate, they just want the NIN and will then do the needful to pull the data of the candidate and the process will go on from there.

Garba Shehu: Nobody Can Bring Down Buhari’s Government

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, has said no one can bring down the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

While reacting to the secession moves of agitators such as Sunday Igboho and Asari Dokubo, Shehu said some “charlatans” were being sponsored to bully President Muhammadu Buhari, thinking he will be forced into submission.

Igboho had recently declared that the SouthWest is no longer a part of Nigeria. During his declaration, the self-acclaimed activist said the major resources of Nigeria were in the hands of Northerners, stressing that Yorubas were being killed and their lands taken over. Dokubo also announced establishment of Biafra Customary Government in which he incorporated some parts of the South East and South South as part of its territory.

But speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’, Shehu said that the Buhari-led government will not be kicked out of power through blackmail.
