Yahaya Bello: I Won’t Take Any Vaccine… Kogi Has No Business With COVID

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has reiterated that COVID-19 is not their business in the state.

Speaking on a Channels Television programme monitored by Daily Trust, Bello declared that he would neither take any vaccine nor compel any one in the state to take it.

He said if the Federal Government is gracious enough to send the vaccine to the state, the government would accept it and ask anyone willing to take it to come forward.

I Believe Buhari Is Not Sleeping, Says Jonathan On Insecurity

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to synergise with governors, security chiefs and other stakeholders to de-escalate tension occasioned by the high level of insecurity in the country.

Jonathan made the call when he led a delegation of politicians from Bayelsa on a condolence visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at Government House, Asaba, Delta State, over the recent demise of the governor’s father, Sir Okorie Okowa.

He said it is unfortunate that school children and many Nigerians were being kidnapped for ransom.

I Tested Positive For COVID, Says Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday revealed that he tested positive for the Coronavirus.

He broke the news in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, while speaking at a colloquium put in place to celebrate his 84th birthday. The programme held within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library(OOPL), Abeokuta.

Obasanjo said, “It will surprise you that I tested positive for COVID-19. I called them to come and test me, they came on a Saturday, I didn’t get the result till Wednesday and it came out positive but I didn’t see any symptoms. When they came three days after, they tested me and said I am negative, that is three days after I tested positive.

Beef Boycott Flops In Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Others

A one-day symbolic beef boycott tagged, “Anything but Cow Day” with the theme, “Towards Terminating the Cow Pandemic,” was called by the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Aare Onakankanfo, Iba Gani Adams, Yoruba Summit Group and Sunday Igboho, according to an advertorial published on the plan.

The boycott, which started from 12:01am on Friday to midnight, came a day after the Amalgamated Union of Food and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) terminated the blockade of foodstuff and cattle from the North to southern Nigeria, which lasted six days, resorting in the scarcity of beef and other food items in southern markets.

In Lagos, residents were seen buying beef, while sellers said there was nothing like boycott. At most of the markets visited by our correspondents, people went about their normal businesses without any boycott of beef.

Tinubu: The Ship Of Lagos Headed In A Wrong Direction Under Ambode

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has said that Lagos State headed in the wrong direction under former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Speaking during the commissioning of a flyover bridge at Pen Cinema in the Agege area of the state, Tinubu said the party leaders had to come together for a solution. Though he did not mention any name, it was clear that he was referring to Ambode as Tinubu claimed things became bad in Lagos between 2017 and 2018.

“Sometimes in 2017-2018, the ship of this state seems to have headed in a very wrong direction. History had it that we came together, an election came and we chose a democratically-elected government of the people, our people, and for the people. They say ‘who is Babajide Sanwo-Olu’? We said, ‘you will find out’. Ever since Babajide became the captain of the ship of our state, he has turned it round to the right direction of progress, development, and good leadership quality.
