You are not more powerful than my government – President Buhari tells bandits

President Muhammadu Buhari addresses Nigerians on COVID-19

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned bandits across the country that his government would deal with them.

Buhari told the bandits that they are not powerful than his government.

The President in a statement through hi aide, Mallam Garba Shehu, noted that he will not succumb to blackmail.

He described the abduction of over 300 schoolgirls at the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara State, as inhumane and totally unacceptable.

“This administration will not succumb to blackmail by bandits who target innocent school students in the expectations of huge ransom payments.”

“Let them not entertain any illusions that they are more powerful than the government. They shouldn’t mistake our restraint for the humanitarian goals of protecting innocent lives as a weakness or a sign of fear or irresolution.”

He criticised state governments for rewarding bandits with money and vehicle, saying that the policy might boomerang disastrously.
