Imo APC bribing our members to register, says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State says the All Progressives Congress is deceiving its members take part in its registration and membership exercise.

The Spokesman for the PDP, Ogubundu Nwadike, in a statement, on Sunday, said while some persons were being promised with a share of the recovered Abacha loot, others were told pointedly that they would only benefit from government palliatives if they registered with the APC.

The statement read in part, “The Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State wishes to alert members of the public to the dubious schemes of the APC in Imo State to hoodwink unsuspecting public to register with their party. Regrettably, part of their shameful strategy, having been convinced that the people have rejected them nationwide due to their failure in all indices of governance, is to induce and deceive the good people of the state with such blatant lies as; ‘there is ongoing census exercise, INEC registration and empowerment programmes.

Okorocha attacks Uzodimma as ex-gov, aides arrested over sealed estate

Some operatives of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, have arrested a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha. Also arrested were Ijeoma Igboanusi and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu. Okorocha was arrested on Sunday after unsealing the Spring Palm Estate linked to his wife, Nkechi.

While Igboanusi was the deputy chief of staff (Domestics), Okafor-Anyanwu was the commissioner for Transportation when Okorocha, who is the current lawmaker representing Imo West (Orlu Senatorial Zone), held sway as the state governor.

This was as the former governor claimed that the incumbent Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, attacked him (Okorocha) with 1,000 thugs.

Beware of APC members dancing on Ige’s grave – Aregbesola

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday warned that people that lacked his kind of political pedigree could not displace him in the fold of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.

This is according to a statement signed by Sola Fasure, the Media Adviser to Aregbesola. Aregbesola, who is the immediate past governor of Osun State, had visited Ilesa on Friday to revalidate his APC membership, where he addressed his supporters.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola reminded the people that Chief Bola Ige was their leader and stood all his life for a compassionate government, commitment to the good of the majority and ideas that would bring the good life, happiness, progress and security to the people. He urged them to be conscious of those who continue to dance on Ige’s grave and avoid anything that would dishonour the late statesman’s memory.

Joint team sacks IPOB security network from Imo forest

A combined team of military, police and Air Force personnel has raided the camps of the Eastern Security Network linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, The PUNCH can authoritative report.

The PUNCH investigation on Sunday revealed that the camp of the ESN operatives located inside the thick forest in Udah village, Orsu LGA of the state, had been taken over by the military.

An investigation by The PUNCH revealed that the combined military operation which led to the capture of the ESN camp in Udah village was led by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, who is the leader of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

‘There’s no better successor for Buhari than Tinubu’

The former Minister of State for Works and Chairman of Southwest Agenda 23, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, on Sunday said, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu remains the best candidate to succeed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in 2003.

Adeyeye said this when members of the group paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.

“Tinubu is a good product that doesn’t need any advertisement and he has contributed greatly to the growth and development of the nation. He is consummate democrat and progressive. We have three geo-political zones in the South, and all of them have the right to contest for the presidency. South West is interested to contest for the presidency in 2023. The person who can help us win this ticket is Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
