PDP alleges that APC mercenaries responsible for Niger School abduction and other banditry

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in its reaction to the abduction of school students, and staff of Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, said that the gunmen were All Progressives Congress (APC) mercenaries.

The PDP expressed concern over the increasing spate of banditry in Niger State and other parts of the nation.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the spokesman of the PDP, in a statement on Wednesday alleged that many of those involved in the acts are mercenaries brought in by the APC to rigged the 2019 election.

“The PDP charged the ruling party to speak out on the reports and take immediate steps to settle their political mercenaries, return them to wherever they brought them from and bring an end to these gruesome attacks on Nigerians.”

In its reaction, the APC in a statement through the Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator John J. Akpan Udoedehe, said that the statement by the PDP shows that Nigerians should not take the opposition party seriously.

“We cannot join issues with the PDP but rather focus on ongoing efforts to ensure the quick and safe release of the abducted schoolchildren and other citizens.

“We urge parents, loved ones and other stakeholders not to be distracted by the PDP’s insensitive, horribly-timed and baseless conspiracies and lies as all hands are on deck to ensure the quick and safe release of the abductees”.
