ZAMFARA APC CRISIS: Buni reconciles ex-Governor Yari and Senator Marafa

Governor Mai Mala Buni led All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Caretaker Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, has on Monday reconciled the two factional leaders of the Zamfara State APC.

The meeting between Buni and the two leaders (a former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa) held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja ended the lingering crisis rocking the party in the state.

The crisis between the two faction shifted power from the traditionally APC state to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Supreme Court had nullified the election of the APC and declared the PDP winner of all position contested for in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking after the meeting with newsmen, Governor Buni said; “As you can see today, we are able to achieve reconciliation of our stakeholders in Zamfara State and by extension, the reconciliation of the entire Zamfara APC as a family.”

Ex-Governor Yari in his statement said; “This is not symbolic; it’s real. A lot of things have been said but the most important thing is we are together and this is the beginning and what happened in the past will never repeat itself.”

Senator Kabiru Marafa said; “I am delighted to be here because reconciliation is an integral part of every human endeavour.

“Like the previous speaker said, we are all human beings and we make mistakes and when mistakes happen, it is left for you to use it either as a source of strength or weakness. I hope our own mistakes will serve as a source of strength for all of us and for APC itself.”
