National Assembly Will Not Resume Sitting Until Sep 29

The National Assembly has shifted its resumption to Tuesday September 29.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos on Saturday.

“This is to inform all distinguished Senators and Honourable members of the National Assembly, that the resumption of Plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 15th September 2020 is hereby rescheduled for Tuesday 29th September 2020. We regret any inconveniences caused by this change of date,” the statement read.

2023 Presidency: Tinubu’s Political Movement Flagged-Off In Abuja

Apolitical movement, BAT 23, has been flagged-off in Abuja to canvas support for the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 general election.

The National Coordinator of the Movement, Umar Inusa, said, during its flag-off at the weekend in Abuja, that the BAT 23, consisted of Tinubu’s supporters who were drawn from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Inusa explained that the movement was formed to root for Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 presidential election. He said that Tinubu is a highly experienced leader with the required political tact to take over from where President Muhammadu Buhari would stop in 2023.

Oba Of Benin Makes Announcement Ahead Of Edo Poll

Ahead of September 19 governorship election, Oba of Benin, the Edo state Council of Traditional Rulers and chiefs urged eligible voters in the state to come out enmasse and vote the candidate of their choice without fear.

The council in its quarterly meeting, presided over by its chairman, Oba Ewuare II, also resolved to intensify prayers and traditional means to ensure absolute peace before, during and after election.

The council commended the Benin monarch, for calling on the two main political gladiators to eschew violence, saying the peace pact had started yielding positive outcome across the state. The council also warned traditional rulers to remain neutral before, during and after the election adding that the palace has no candidate in an election.

Ex-Adamawa Governor, Ngillari, Dumps PDP For APC

Aformer Governor of Adamawa State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr James Ngillari, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I want to use this opportunity to announced that the former Governor of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr James Ngillari, has decamped to All Progressive Congress . Ngillari decamped to APC after long consultation and he joined the progressive party with thousands of his supporters,” Alh. Ibrahim Bilal, state chairman of APC said on Saturday in Yola.

“He told me verbatim that his coming to APC is not to look for any position but to enjoy freedom of political aspiration,” Bilal added.

Desmond Elliot Under Attack For Justifying Godfatherism

An actor and politician, Desmond Elliot, has come under attack over his comment that godfatherism is good.

Elliot also attacked Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for chanting “Edo no be Lagos” slogan in his re-election campaign.

“A godfather always tries to look after the interest of his people. I’m a product of godfatherism but Tinubu has never for one day asked me to do something you know would be detrimental. It’s progressive. So, let him (Obaseki) not castigate the whole thing. If not for godfatherism, would he be where he is today? Elliot said.

But his comments have drawn the ire of many people on Twitter on Saturday morning with many commentators attacking him over his position on godfatherism.
