2023 Presidency: There is no zoning of presidency in APC constitution; Nigerians from every part can contest – Kalu says

Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, a former Governor of Anambra State and the current Chief Whip of the Senate, has warned that the constitution of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) did not contain zoning.

“Zoning is a party issue, every party has the right to say where they want a position to come from but in APC, there is no issue of zoning.

“Most people are not aware that there is no zoning of the position of the President in the constitution of the APC; Nigerians from every part can contest for the office of President,” Kalu warned those clamouring for power to shift to the south after the ending of President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight years tenure.

The senator stated this on Monday in Minna after he visited former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Speaking of the state of insecurity in the country, Kalu alleged that it was the handiwork of saboteurs, who according to him were doing everything to frustrate all measures put in place to stop the ugly development.

“Security is a big challenge to everybody and the Senate is going to address this issue. Insecurity has defied any solution. I see a lot of sabotage in this issue of insecurity and I can assure you that the Senate will address the issue of sabotage,” he said.

Kalu told newsmen that he visited the former Head of State to welcome him from his recent medical trip abroad.
