Rev. Gideon Para-Mallam, the peace advocate in Jos, has explained why he stood as a surety for the release of Dr. Obadiah Mailafia by the Department of State Services (DSS).
After six hours with the DSS, Para-Mallam who stood as his surety for his release, noted that Mailafia should be commended and encouraged to provide tips on how to address the problem, adding that he did the Nigerian government a favour by speaking out on the never-ending boko haram issue and the killings in Southern Kaduna.
The former CBN deputy governor who contested the Presidential Election under the African Democratic Congress after his release noted that he stood by his earlier statement, adding that he was ready to die for Nigeria.
Read Para-Mallam’s statement below (as seen on Punch);
“I have 10 reasons why I stood as surety when the occasion presented itself.
“Mailafia spoke the truth, and I stand for the truth, no matter what. This is why I stood as surety for him. In fact, on the basis of self-recognition alone, there would have been no need for a surety, but due process needed to be followed and the DSS ensured this was done.
“Mailafia threw a challenge to the Nigerian state on the state of security in the country that needs to and must be addressed if sustainable peace is to be achieved.
“He put those speaking from both sides of their mouth on the spot and challenged them to come clean for the common good of us all.”
