Chief Nnia Nwodo, the President General of Igbo apex socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stated that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Ohanaeze are fighting for the same cause.
Nwodo however noted that IPOB was going about it in an unfriendly way. He urged the leadership of IPOB to change its approach and instead build bridges for Ndigbo.
According to Nwodo’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Emeka Attamah, the Ohanaeze President General stated this when the leadership of IPOB visited the National Executive Committee of Ohanaeze at its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Nwodo who noted that Ohanaeze had no quarrel with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, noted that Ohanaeze and IPOB shares the same vision to emancipate Ndigbo, adding that the apex Igbo group wants dialogue and restructuring of the country.
In its own statement, the IPOB leadership led by its principal officers, Benjamin Madubugwu, asked Ohanaeze to help in working towards the nullification of the proscribing of IPOB, saying that IPOB is not a terrorist organization.
“IPOB is not a terrorist organisation, it was given a bad name in order to hang it,” Madubugwu said.
