Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State while speaking in Katsina during the 2020 Chief of Air Staff Eid-el-Kabir luncheon with troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and troops of 213 Forward Operating Base, said that only thirty policemen provide security for one hundred villages in the state.
He noted that Katsina was looking at the extant laws on community policing, empowering village heads, local authorities and supporting the police effort to improve security in the state.
Masari also called for a quick eradication of banditry and other crimes in the North-West, saying that any delay could lead to the situation currently being experienced in the North-East.
“We have seen some traces that are alarming and frightening at the same time that we need to tackle before the North West become another theatre like North East,” he said.
The governor noted that “without urgent efforts to quickly tackle the bandits, the task could be more difficult”.
He also thanked the Nigerian Air Force for its role in addressing the security challenges in the state as well as the entire North-West region.
