Akeredolu meets Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, over Ondo election

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Friday visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to make consultations over the October 10 governorship election.

The governor said he also presented his running mate in the election, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to the national leader.

Akeredolu, who stated this on his Twitter handle, noted that he was in company with an APC governorship aspirant, Olusegun Abraham, who later stepped down for him.

Edo 2020: APC kicks as Wike berates Ize-Iyamu

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has described the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as “a bad product that won’t sell during the Edo governorship election.”

Wike spoke in his capacity as the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Edo State Governorship Campaign Council during an interview with a national television network in the state.

Reps condemn attack on Borno gov, insist on service chiefs’ removal

Members of the House of Representatives have condemned the recent attack on the convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, insisting that heads of the armed forces should resign or be sacked.

Those who made the call include the minority caucus and members from Southern Kaduna, where armed herdsmen and militias are wreaking havoc.

The Minority Leader of the House, Mr Ndudi Elumelu, in a statement on Friday, titled ‘Attack on Governor Zulum: Reps Caucus Restates Call for Sack of Service Chiefs,’ urged the Presidency to implement the recent resolution of both chambers of the National Assembly, asking the President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the service chiefs.

Senate probes fresh multi-billion naira fraud in NDDC

The Senate said it had received fresh fraud allegations against the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The red chamber said the new financial infractions were not captured in the list of the allegation of N40bn reckless spending which a whistle-blower brought against the NDDC to the parliament recently.

The Senate said the fresh probe would be handled by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.

Obaseki alleges plot to intimidate, arrest PDP members

The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the state of planning violence and importing arms to intimidate and harass his supporters as the September 19, 2020 governorship election draws near.

The governor said this while receiving Muslim leaders at the Government House, in Benin City.

Obaseki, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, expressed his readiness to stand with the people, defend their interests, and develop the state.
