This was contained in the guidelines for the reopening of schools submitted to the National Assembly.
Each school is required to create a temporary isolation spaces and fully-equipped clinics before reopening.
Schools are also mandated to “establish a referral system, including protocols and procedures to take if learners, teachers, administrators, and other education personnel become unwell while in schools”.
The Ministry of Education also mandated schools to hold adequate consultations with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 before reopening.
The federal government also want proprietors of schools across the nation to construct additional structures and employ more teachers to prevent crowded classrooms. The proprietors were also asked to seek grants to enable them procure soaps, buckets, water, learning materials and to ensure salaries are paid on time.
