Governor Abiola Ajimobi has vehemently denied rumour that he is dead.
There were reports (not on Naija Buzz News) on Thursday that Ajimobi died from COVID-19 complications.
Ajimobi who was recently appointed the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), debunked the rumour in a tweet on Thursday night.
“I am not dead. Stop this rumour mongering. Ajimobi is very much alive. The Constituted Authority is here for a lot more time. I will beat corona and be back on my feet soon,” he twitted.
His daughter in-law, Fatima Ganduje-Ajimobi, also dismissed the rumour in a tweet.
“Thank you for all the messages, but our father is still alive, alhamdulillah. When it is our time we will all die; so wait first,” she said.
Also, Chief Akin Oke, the Chairman of the APC in Oyo State, described the death rumour as a rude shock orchestrated from the pit of hell.
One of the former Oyo governor’s aide who spoke to Punch, expressed anger over the rumour. The aide described it as a rumour birthed by enemies of progress.
“That story is not true please. My attention has been drawn to the rumour circulating on the social media about my principal. Kindly disregard. We, however, continue to pray for him. Thank you all for the show of concern.”
