The Governor or Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obaseki announced that he has defected to the PDP earlier today at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
“I have officially joined the @OfficialPDPNig to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state,” the governor said on twitter.
The PDP also confirmed Obaseki’s defection to the PDP.
“The Governor of Edo State, H. E. Governor Obaseki has defected to our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig. The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of our party in Benin city, Edo State. Power to the people,” the party stated on twitter.
Naija Buzz News reported that Obaseki few days ago held a meeting with the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, at the Asokoro, Abuja, residence of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
