The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said it will provide funding for about 1.6million farmers during the 2020 wet planting season.
The apex bank said it would support the cultivation and production of certain commodities like; cotton, rice, oil palm, tomato, cassava, poultry, fish, maize, cocoa and livestock/dairy.
Yila Yusuf, the CBN Director, Development Finance Department, while speaking on Tuesday in Abuja said that the financial support to the 1.6million farmers would ensure food security for the country after the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yusuf stated this at the inauguration of farm inputs distribution for cotton farmers for the 2020 planting season.
