Boko Haram reportedly attacked ex-Governor Ali Modu Sheriff’s convoy on Thursday; 2 police, a solider, 2 others killed

Report has it that Boko Haram terrorist group killed five persons in the convoy of former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff of Borno State.

The incident happened around Auno, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

Auno is the same place where the deadly sect gruesomely attacked commuters who could not gain access into Maiduguri after their vehicle arrived late. Over 30 were killed and many women and children abducted by the sect. on that day.

According to The Punch, Sheriff, who was also a former Senator, was ambushed by the terrorist on Thursday evening while he was travelling to Maiduguri from Abuja.

He was heading to Maiduguri in a convoy of nine vehicles to take part in the third day post-burial prayer of his father, Galadima Sheriff.

An undisclosed source who spoke to the newspaper noted that the ex-governor’s convoy was engaged by Boko Haram around 6:30pm, killing two police officers, two civilians and one soldier.

They were eventually rescued by a team of the Rapid Response Squad deployed to Njimtilo to enforce the COVID-19 lockdown.
