COVID-19: Gov. Akeredolu orders closure of markets, malls

Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has ordered the immediate closure of all markets, malls, and shops in the state for seven days, as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Mr. Donald Ojogo, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, in a statement on Tuesday in Akure, said only life-saving and sustaining items would be allowed.

Ojogo said gatherings at clubs beer parlours and joints were also prohibited until further notice.

Buhari expresses grief over killing of 47 by Boko Haram

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed “profound grief and sorrow’’ over the loss of soldiers who were ambushed by terrorists in Gorgi Village, Borno State.

About 47 soldiers according to the military authorities lost their lives as a result of the ambush.

Covid-19: Clerk orders total shutdown of NASS Complex

The management of the National Assembly has ordered a total shutdown of the complex as a measure to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Ataba Sani-Omolori issued the directive in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

NCDC confirms 2 new cases of coronavirus, 1 in Lagos, 1 in Osun

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed, early Wednesday two new of coronavirus in Lagos and Osun states.

“Two new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in Lagos and 1 in Osun Both cases are returning travellers to Nigeria in the last 7 days As at 07:00 am 25th March, there are 46 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death,” NCDC said on twitter.

COVID-19: Bauchi govt. to procure 150 kits for preliminary test

Bauchi State Government says it will procure 150 kits for preliminary test against the dreaded Coronavirus before submitting the samples to the referral laboratory.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro made the disclosure at a news conference shortly after announcing that Gov. Bala Muhammed tested positive to the virus.

Osinbajo begins social distancing, self-isolation

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has begun self-isolation in accordance with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols, his spokesman disclosed on Tuesday.

Mr Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Vice President disclosed that Prof. Osinbajo has begun observing social distancing.
