CBN Technically Devalues Naira to N380/$1 on I & E Window

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has technically devalued the naira exchange rate on the Investors and Exporters’ (I&E) window from the N366.7 to a dollar it closed on Thursday, to N380.20 to a dollar.

Covid-19: NMA Directs Striking Doctors to Resume Work

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has asked all doctors currently engaged in one service withdrawal or the other to sacrifice all interests and respond positively to the health emergency posed by the outbreak of coronavirus.

The association urged government to provide all necessary personal protective equipment to different hospitals so that health personnel can adequately and appropriately manage their patients.

COVID-19: Italian Index Case Recovers, Discharged

The Italian that brought Coronavirus to Nigeria has fully recovered and has been discharged. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the Italian tested negative to the virus twice and was thus allowed to go home.

Summon President Buhari Now, Ezekwesili Charges N’Assembly

Former Presidential candidate in the 2019 General Elections, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has urged the leadership of the National Assembly to invite President Muhammadu Buhari to address the lawmakers and the Nigerian public on his administration’s strategies and account of efforts at containing the Corona virus pandemic and the global economic shock.

In a press statement made available to journalists, yesterday, through her Spokesperson, Mr. Ozioma Ubabukoh, she stated that “at a time Nigeria is at war against a rapidly escalating pandemic of Corona virus and an increasingly distressed, deteriorating and declining economy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Buhari, is missing in action.”

Osinbajo Chairs FG/States Special Committee on COVID-19

In a collective effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria, state governors under the auspices of the National Economic Council (NEC) have set up a Special Committee to coordinate Federal and States’ responses to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Committee which started deliberations immediately after the NEC meeting on Thursday is chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, with the Governors of Jigawa, Edo, Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kebbi and Ogun States as members.

FBI-Indicted Nigerians Jailed over N322m Fraud

The Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the convictions of two FBI suspects and four others before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State for various offences bordering on impersonation, internet fraud and operating a vessel within Nigerian Waters without due registration and license by appropriate authority.

One of the convicts, Patrick Erakposhere Onajokpe, alias John Mark was arraigned on a two count charge of fraudulently impersonating the identity of John Mark through which he defrauded unsuspecting American ladies.
