Oshiomhole’s suspension: How Governor Obaseki reacted

Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has expressed support over the suspension of his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Obaseki, the court ruling shows that no man is God.

The Edo State Chapter of the APC had suspended Oshiomhole from the party. He was accused of causing crisis in the party and trying to be lord over the affairs of the party in the state.

Speaking after Oshiomhole’s suspension, Obaseki said he was not afraid of contesting against anybody, but they have to do it according to the rules.

There has been an unending disagreement between Obaseki and Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole apparently tries to act as a god-father in Edo APC, but Obaseki want freedom to govern the state.

There are speculations that Oshiomhole would ensure that Obaseki lost the party’s primary election ahead of the forthcoming Governorship Election in the state.

“We have learnt a lesson and today is a new era in Edo State. I am saying this with all sense of responsibility considering where the party has come from,” Obaseki said.
