The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) has urged Igbo politicians to forget about Igbo Presidency in 2023 because the political calculation in Nigeria had never favoured the South-East to produce a president.
“The Igbo are already thinking of 2023. Some of them are preparing to contest the 2023 presidential election. They should forget it because it is a gamble that can never work.”
According to The Punch, the statement was issued by Sunday Okereafor, MASSOB Director of Information.
The Biafra secessionist group noted that it is almost impossible for an Igbo person to emerge President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The fact is that there has been a gang-up against Ndigbo that they will never get to the position. The gang-up has been there for the past 50 years and there is nothing anybody can do about it,” Okereafor said.
He noted that top Igbo politicians like Alex Ekwueme, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chuba Okadigbo, and others including late Biafra warlord, Emeka Ojukwu, had failed in their attempt to become President.
