Senators and representative members personalise constituency projects – ICPC

The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Udonsi Arua, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Offences Commission (ICPC) commissioner in Imo State, has revealed that a senator diverted constituency project and turned it to his personal hotel.

The commissioner stated this during the celebration of the 2019 United Nations International Anti-Corruption Day in Owerri, the state capital.

He also revealed that a member of the National House of Representatives also purchased tricycles and buses as constituency projects, but however packed them at his residence and refused to give them out to the people.

“When a country’s institutions are weakened by corruption, for instance, its security forces would not be trusted, its borders would become porous, criminality will fester and insecurity may be internationalised.”
