National Assembly received N1trillion in 10 years with nothing to show – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that the National Assembly has received one trillion naira (1trillion) in the last ten years for constituency projects with nothing to show.

“It is on record that in the past 10 years N1 trillion has been appropriated for constituency projects, yet the impact of such huge spending on the lives and welfare of ordinary Nigerians can hardly be seen,” Buhari said on Tuesday while speaking at the National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Public Sector.

President Buhari promised his support to the commission to deal with any public servant and legislator found guilty of diverting public fund.

ICPC discovers billions from federal institutions and health institutions budgets

Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, the Chairman of ICPC, has revealed that the ICPC discovered that Federal Universities and Health Institutions padded the personnel cost presented to the Federal Government.

“Part of our preliminary findings revealed gross abuse of personnel budget and inflation or padding of the nominal roll. As of the time we went to press we had covered about 300 MDAs and the amount inflated was about N12bn. As of today, we have discovered additional N6bn making a total of N18.624bn restrained by the ICPC.

“The exercise is still going on but we can confidently report that the  MDAs are mostly academic and health institutions. For example, preliminary findings show that the University of Benin Teaching Hospital padded its budget by N1.1bn; the Federal Medical Centre, Bayelsa, N915m; the Nnamdi Azikwe University, N907m; University of Jos, N896m; University College Hospital, Ibadan N701m; Usman Dan Fodio University, N636m and University of Ibadan, N558m.”

APC using Jonathan to legitimise their electoral fraud – Dickson

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the image of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to legitimise electoral fraud.

“That’s why they had to be taking David Lyon to him (referring to Ex-President Jonathan). They had to be talking about him; they had to visit him and appear to be celebrating a victory never earned.

“Like Pontius Pilate, they are preparing the window by which they will wash their hands strategically, and put it at his (Ex-President Jonathan) doorstep; that he endorsed, sanctioned and legitimised it. That’s the game they are playing,” he added. Read more

Oshiomhole accuses Shaibu of betraying him

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, who is his political godson of betraying him.

“The only thing I will say today to anyone who is here who is an agent of my son, when I talk of my son I am talking of Philip Shiabu who now thinks that his own political future requires that he attacks me and import thugs to disgrace me in my village. The Hausa have a saying that when people are possessed and they do things like that, just say God take control,” Oshiomhole stated while addressing a group who paid him a solidarity visit on Tuesday. Read Oshiomhole’s full statement and how Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu responded.
