Despite court release warrants, DSS still holds Sowore, Bakare

Omowole Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the February 23, 2019 poll

The Department of State Services (DSS) appears to have ignored court order directing the release of Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare, the conveners of the #RevolutionNow protest.

After meeting bail condition, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had few days ago signed the warrants for their release from the custody of the secret service.

The copy of the release warrant was circulated on social media on Thursday. The DSS however, despite receiving the warrants still held the two activists in custody.

Naija Buzz News reported how Sowore was arrested in the early hours of August 3 at his Lagos residence, just few days to the August 5th #RevolutionNow protest.

He was accused of treason by the federal government. According to the government, the planned protest was a move to overthrow the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
