Police arrests Kogi PDP candidate’s security official for illegal arms possession

Hakeem Busari, the Kogi State Police Commissioner, has confirmed the arrest of the Chairman of the Security Committee of the Musa/Aro Campaign Organisation, ACP Suleiman Abutu (rtd).

The ex-police officer who heads the security team of the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Musa Wada, was arrested on Saturday alongside six others in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

There were arrested by operatives of the police from the Abuja Police Command for illegal possession of arms.

The Kogi CP who confirmed the arrest noted that he has no details on the arrest because his men were not involved in the arrest.

“I don’t have further details since it was not our men from the state command who arrested them but officers from Abuja came for them,” the Kogi CP said.

Speaking about the development, Kingsley Fanwo, the Chairman Media Committee of the Governor Yahaya Bello Campaign Organisation, alleged that the arms seized by the police from Abutu and his team were meant to be used to unleash terror on voters during the forthcoming November 16 election.
