The Supreme Court has fixed October 30, 2019, for the hearing of Atiku Abubakar’s appeal against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019, election.
Former Vice President Atiku had following the declaration of Buhari as winner of the election vehemently rejected the result and consequently filed his petitions at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) against Buhari, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election however got his petitions dismissed by the Justice Garba Muhammad led PEPT on September 11, 2019.
Not satisfied with the ruling of the PEPT, Atiku and his party, PDP, approached the apex court to challenge the Justice Garba’s judgement.
Atiku and PDP on September 23, 2019, filed 66 grounds of appeal before the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the PEPT.
