Kidnapped Police Commander rescued; 2 suspects arrested

The Nigeria Police has rescued Musa Rabo, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who was abducted along Barde-Jos road by gunmen on Saturday.

Rabo was rescued on Sunday by a combined team of police operatives from Kaduna, Niger, and Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.

Two suspects were also arrested in connection with his abduction and investigation is ongoing, DCP Frank Mba, the spokesman of the Nigeria Police said in Abuja.

Borno Governor holds first retreat in Damasak, Boko Haram enclave

Prof. Babagana Umar, the Governor of Borno State went on a retreat with his commissioners and top aides to the Boko Haram enclave.

Isa Gusau, the govenor’s spokesman, in a statement revealed that the governor went on his first retreat in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area. Damasak was a town captured by the Boko Haram terrorist group before it was reclaimed back by the Nigerian Army.

Buhari must stop the lawlessness in Kogi State before it breeds another terrorist group – Achuba

Recently impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the lawlessness in Kogi State under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello.

“I which to draw the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and well-meaning Nigerians to the lawlessness going in  Kogi State and sound a note of warning that they may be breeding another Boko Haram,” the impeached Deputy Governor said.

Falana urges Senate to recover over $103billion diverted from the Federation Account

Femi Falana in a letter to the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, further urged the lawmaker to engage the help of anti-graft agencies to recover $103.7billion in the hands of oil companies, 14 banks and others.

“It is clear that apart from the expected revenue of $1.5bn from the implementation of the amended Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Contracts Act the outstanding royalties, fixed deposit and other funds withheld or diverted from the Federation Account are not less than $103.7bn,” he said. CBN, Ministry of Communication opposes MTN USSD N4 charge

Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has opposed the plan by telecommunication firms in Nigeria to charge its subscribers for USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) access banking services.

MTN Nigeria had on Sunday forwarded messages to its subscribes, alerting them of the plan to start charging N4 for USSD banking service. The alert caused uproar on social media which made the Minister of Communication, Dr. Isa Pantami, to order the suspension of the planned N4 charges. Here’s what you should know on the development

Army says terrorists smuggles smoked fish into Nigeria

The Nigerian Army has on Sunday revealed that the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists were smuggling smoked fish into Nigeria to sustain their evil activities.

“A syndicate that specialises in the smuggling of smoked fish from the Lake Chad region for sale in some parts of Nigeria has been arrested by the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole. Reliable information available revealed that Boko Haram criminals, ISWAP and their collaborators are using the fish business to finance and sustain their heinous activities,” Col. Aminu Iliyasu, the Operation Lafiya Dole spokesman, said.
