Ward Chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State has vowed that they would be no second term for Governor Godwin Obaseki if he fails to issue a fresh proclamation for the inauguration of elected members of the state House of Assembly.
“Until the governor issues a fresh proclamation, no second term deal. It is even a shame for the governor to have instructed the council chairman to stop the N15,000 stipends being given to ward chairmen because we are not supporting his second term bid. And Frank Ilaboya, our council chairman, is owning the eleven ward chairmen three months which amounted to N495,000. They can eat the money but we stand with Oshiomhole,” the ward chairmen said.
The APC ward leaders warned Obaseki that political rascality would not earn him a second term.
Raymond Osumah, the coordinating ward three chairman, further noted that no one has endorsed the governor for second term, adding that Mr. Frank Ilaboya, the council chairman, who alleged that Obaseki has been endorsed for second term was only being mischievous.
“We want to make it clear that, nothing like that happened. Frank Ilaboya, the council chairman who said it, is being mischievous.
“What we are demanding from Mr Governor is to obey the directives of the National Working Committee of the APC and the National Assembly,” he said.
The governor has repeatedly rejected pressure from his predecessor who is currently the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to issue fresh proclamation at the state assembly.
Naija Buzz News had few months ago reported how the assembly inaugurated 9 lawmakers and elected its speaker and other principal officers in the absence of other majority members.
Report had it that the other 15 lawmakers who were absent at the inauguration are loyal to the Oshiomhole.
