The Lagos State House of Assembly has ordered Ex-Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to appear before it over the purchase of 820 commercial buses under his administration.
Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Assembly, at the plenary on Thursday also directed government officials who were involved in the project to also appear before the lawmakers.
The decision to invite the former governor came following report by two ad hoc committees set up investigate the purchase of 820 buses under his administration.
Obasa further noted that an arrest warrant would be issued if Ambode refuses to honour the invitation.
According to the committee headed by Fatai Mojeed, out of 20 officials summouned by the committee, 4 refused to appear. These four are; Kazeem Adeniji, ex-Attorney General and Commissioner for Justicel; Olusegun Banjo, ex-Commissioner for Budget; Akinyemi Ashade, ex-Commissioner for Finance; and Wale Oluwo, ex-Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources.
“The clerk should write them, including the ex-governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, and if they refuse, we will do newspaper publications and after that, we will issue warrants of arrest,” the Speaker said.
