Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, of twisting his achievements with lies.
“What is most condemnable in Ngige’s attacks are the lies he tells just to bring Obi down,” Obi stated through his aide, Valentine Obienyem.
Obi who was a former governor of Anambra State, noted that Ngige who was also a former governor of the state cannot diminish him with his campaign of calumny, adding that the minister’s achievement as governor was too little to erase his achievements and reputation in the state.
The PDP VP candidate was reacting to a statement by Ngige, where he reportedly expressed disappointment over the quality of roads constructed by his successors, including Obi.
“How could he mention roads such as Abatete-Nteje-Aguleri-Otuocha and Igboukwu-Ezenifite-Umunze , Iseeke and deliberately forgot that Obi did greater portions of those roads? Over 90% of the roads Ngige claimed to build were done in his local government area,” he said.
“Knowing the importance of road maintenance, shortly before he left, Obi set up the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency with full compliments of brand new equipment.
“He also left over N4bn in the Ministry of Works for road maintenance before he handed over,” the statement added.
He further asked Ngige to focus his energy on making Nigeria work, rather than pulling him down.
