Killing of Shiites by the police makes life worthless – NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has vehemently condemned the killing of the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (aka Shiites) by the Nigeria Police.

NHRC noted that the killing of Shiites during their Ashura annual mourning procession across Nigeria makes life worthless.

“These acts of extra-judicial killing by the police have made human life inconsequential in Nigeria,” Tony Ojukwu, the Executive Secretary of the NHRC said as he calls for investigation into the killings.

You will lose even if you go to World Court – Oshiomhole mocks Atiku

Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, the All Progressives Congress has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, cannot win even at world court.

The PDP had vowed to challenge the verdict of the tribunal at the Supreme Court, saying that the Appeal Court ruling was a mockery of the judiciary.

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of APC, however noted that Atiku and his party would always loss against the ruling party even if they go to World Court.

Aisha Buhari asks for more military women participation in the fight against insecurity in the country

Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has called on the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces to deploy more women soldiers to fight insecurity in the country.

“The security issues bedeviling our country still abound probably because we are yet to redefine the Armed Forces of Nigeria to explore the potential of women for operational effectiveness. Women possess the traits of patience, perseverance, and passion,” she said while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Defence Headquarters annual conference on Women Peace and Security at the National Defence College in Abuja. INEC to disqualify Kogi, Bayelsa governorship election candidates over age limit

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it would disqualify some candidates for the forthcoming Kogi and Bayelsa States Governorship Elections over their age.

INEC noted that some of the candidates are below the minimum age limit prescribed by the constitution for governorship positions.  

Osinbajo says Buhari will take 10million Nigerians out of poverty

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday while speaking at the Abdullahi Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi, said that President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10million Nigerians out of poverty.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to take 10 millions Nigerian out of poverty in the next 10 years, we believe very strongly we can achieve it in collaboration with the state governors,” Osinbajo who visited Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar, the Emir of Gwandu, said.

FG asks Atiku to apologize to Nigerians for deliberately distracting Buhari

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, has asked Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to apologies to Nigerians following his colossal defeat at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday.

Lai noted that Atiku needs to apologize because he wilfully distracted the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with his frivolous election petition.

Wike confirmed that he congratulated Buhari over his victory against Atiku

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has confirmed that he congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

Wike noted that it was better to congratulate Buhari publicly than visit him at night like how other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors do, adding that his congratulation to President Buhari came from his heart.

“I am sure all of you are surprised that I congratulated Buhari,” he said, “Is it not good for me to congratulate him than to go to his house in the night? Many PDP governors go to see him in his house in the night. I have never gone and I will not go. I won’t go,” he noted.
