The Department of State Services (DSS) alleges that some people were plotting to set Nigeria on fire.
The worrisome statement from the nation’s secret service was issued by Peter Afunaya, the spokesman for the DSS.
The DSS urged Nigerians to ignore fake news and warn those who spread fake news to stop or face the consequence.
Read the state below;
“The DSS wishes to reiterate its earlier alert to the nation of plans by subversive groups and individuals to undermine national security, peace and unity in the country.
“These elements are determined to exploit political differences and other occurrences, within and outside the country, to destabilize the nation. They also initiate narratives to deepen their subversive objectives so as to achieve preferred illegal outcomes.
“The aim is to set the country on fire as well as inflame passions across ethnic and religious divides with expected violent consequences.”
The DSS statement came few hours after the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi, who had visited Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, revealed that his counterpart Governor Nyesom Wike did not demolish any mosque in the state as being alleged and widely spread by some media (not Naija Buzz News) including on social media.
Many northern politicians and elites had vehemently condemned and berated Wike without even confirming to know if the report was true.
