Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of 2,149 pieces of jewellery and a gold iPhone seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources.
Mrs. Diezani who served under the administration of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was accused by the anti-graft of acquiring the jewellery and customized gold iPhone valued at $40million with illicit funds, adding that they were beyond her legitimate earnings.
Naija Buzz News had reported that she had through her lawyer, Awa Kalu (SAN), challenged the court order for the temporal forfeiture of the items.
In his ruling this afternoon, the judge noted that Diezani failed to show reason why the items should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government.
