I can’t be a deputy governor – Dino says

Senator Dino Melaye declaring for Kogi Governor at a PDP meeting

Senator Dino Melaye, the lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has vehemently denied reports that he wanted to emerge as running mate to Ex-Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada.

Dino noted that the news about him becoming the next deputy governor of the state was fake and deliberately meant to stop his emergence as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming September 3 governorship primary.

The senator who spoke through his aide, Gideon Ayodele, said that Wada lost the last election held in the state in 2015, adding that it makes no sense for him who has better idea and clearer vision to emerge as his (Wada) running mate.

Since his declaration to contest the forthcoming November 16 Governorship Election in the state, Dino has consistently expressed confidence that he would defeat incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello to become the next governor of Kogi.

Governor Bello emerged the winner of the ruling All Progressives Congress governorship primary held on Thursday. He might meet his greatest political rival, Dino, at the poll in November if he eventually emerges PDP candidate.
