Weeks after he was accused of rape, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinba, the founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, is finally being grilled by detectives of the Nigeria Police.
DCP Frank Mba, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed on Tuesday that Mr. Fatoyinbo was currently in police custody.
Naija Buzz News reported how Busola, wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo, accused the pastor of raping her 20 years ago when she was a teenager living with her parent in Illorin, Kwara State.
Mba noted that investigation into the alleged rape case involving the celebrity pastor was proof that the case had not been abandoned or ignored as being insinuated.
When asked why it took so long to invite and grill the pastor, the police spokesman said; “We have done a whole lot of background investigations and spoken to a whole lot of people before now. It was a deliberate investigative procedure to bring him last. Although we may invite others later depending on how investigations go.
“We were not in a hurry to bring him because we wanted to have enough background information that would be used in interrogating him. We have done an extensive investigation.”
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria had reported that the COZA senior pastor had ignored invitation to appear before a panel setup to investigate the allegations against him.
