Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised an alarm that President Muhammadu Buhari was plotting to frame his boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Atiku, Buhari’s desperate plan was to stop Obasanjo from criticizing his administration.
Atiku who spoke through his media aide, Paul Ibe, further said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was deliberately feeding the public with lies in an attempt to cause problem between him and Obasanjo and between Obasanjo and Nigerians.
“The truth is that there is desperation on the part of the current administration to rope in former President Olusegun Obasanjo into a crime as a way of silencing his voice, which they see as the preeminent critical voice against the misrule that they have foisted on Nigerians.”
The former VP further revealed that his son-in-law, Babalele Abdullahi, who was accused by the EFCC for money laundering, actually donated N50million to the President Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, but not in cash.
“Atiku stated that for the avoidance of doubt, his son-in-law, Mallam Babalele Abdullahi, did not donate any money in cash to the Olusegun Obasanjo Library.
“He said it is true that Abdullahi facilitated the donation of N50m to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.
“He added that many other individuals, including civic-minded traditional rulers, state governors, bankers and captains of industry also donated to the library.
Atiku further noted that President Buhari in a deliberate attempt to discredit Obasanjo asked the Federal Inland Revenue Service to falsely and libelously include Obasanjo Farm in a list of tax evaders which was published last week.
He noted that they went further to include the names of other PDP members including David Adeleke (aka Davido).
