Soldiers of the Nigerian Army 93 Battalion in Takum, Taraba State, who killed 3 policemen and 2 civilians who had gone to arrest a kidnap kingpin in Ibi –Taraba could reportedly face Court Martial in Jos, Plateau State.
The decision might be contained in the report on the investigation into the incident by a Defence Headquarters joint panel led by Rear Admiral Ibikunle Olaiya. The report would be submitted to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, today.
The Olaiya 7-man panel had visited the Taraba where the incident happened.The panel also interrogated the soldiers, policemen and civilians (including the kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Wadume) involved in the incident.
Report has it that the Nigerian Army 3 Division in Jos awaits the outcome of the investigation and recommendations contained in the DHQ report which might include a possible Court Martial.
Wadume had following his arrest revealed that the soldiers led by Captain Balarabe Tijjani deliberately killed the policemen who arrested him and freed him. In his latest revelation, he said he worked for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 General Election. According to him, APC paid him N13million for the job.
Naija Buzz News had reported how soldiers intercepted and killed 3 policemen who had arrested Alhaji Hamisu Wadume. After killing the police officers who were on legitimate duty, the soldiers helped the kidnap kingpin (Wadume) who was on handcuff and leg chain escape.
