1. EFCC Chairman Magu is Osinbajo’s puppet – Adoke

Mohammed Adoke, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, alleges that Mr. Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s puppet.

Adoke said that the vice president is angry with him because he revealed in his book titled ‘Burden of Service: Reminiscences of Nigeria’s Former Attorney-General, that he (Osinbajo) benefited from a $16million legal fee that saw the Federal Government recover $65million from indicted companies years ago.

2. Borno donates Boko Haram Sambisa Forest for the establishment of Ruga

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has donated part of Sambisa Forest to the Federal Government for the establishment of the Ruga Grazing Settlement.

Sambisa Forest is the stronghold and base of the deadly Boko Haram terrorist group.

The governor announced the donation when Alhaji Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, paid him a Sallah visit at the Government House in Maiduguri the capital of the state.

3. Buhari suspends asset recovery boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, and ordered him to submit himself to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

Obono-Obla was suspended following alleged illegal financial dealings involving him which was exposed by the ICPC. He is also accused of forgery and other misconducts including; abuse of office, intimidation, financial impropriety and falsification of records.

After investigations, Obono-Obla’s Law degree might be withdrawn by the University of Jos and the Nigerian Law School might also bar him from practising. He could also face prosecution with regard to his academic credentials specifically his WAEC certificate.

4. DHQ 7-man panel arrive Taraba

The investigative panel setup by the Defence Headquarters over the killing of three policemen and a civilian along Ibi-Jalingo Road in Taraba State by soldiers of the Nigerian Army has arrived the state on Wednesday.

The Rear Admiral IT Olaiya led 7-man panel visited Governor Darius Ishaku at the Taraba State Government House yesterday afternoon.

5. Federal Government set to take over discos 10

Report has it that the Federal Government is planning on taking over 10 electricity distribution and generation companies following its colossal failure to effectively supply power to Nigerians.

If the plan works, the FG would spend around $2.4billion (N736billion) to take back the electricity generation and distribution firms which were carved out from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.

Nigeria had under the leadership of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan privatised the PHCN with the aim of improving electricity supply to Nigerians. But nothing much has changed since November 2013 when the investors took over.

According to a report by The Punch, the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing previously headed by Mr. Babatunde Fashola described the owners of the private power companies as ‘failed investors’.
