Naija Buzz News had last week reported how the Nigeria Police accused the soldiers of the Nigerian Army of killing 3 of its highly trained officers and a civilian who were conveying a highly wanted kidnap kingpin identified as ‘Alhaji Hamisu Wadume’.
The police operatives attached to the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team had apprehended the suspect after successfully raiding his base in the state. On their way to the Police Command Headquarters in Jalingo however, soldiers opened fire on them, killing 4 and releasing the kidnap kingpin.
The Nigerian Army had since admitted the incident but however blamed the police for not communicating the army in Taraba State before embarking on the operation.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered an investigation into the issue. We also reported that the Captain of the Army whose soldiers opened fire on the police officers on legitimate duty had been moved to Abuja for interrogation.
Meanwhile, relatives of Alhaji Hamisu who was released by the soldiers (even though he was on handcuff and leg chains at the time of the incident) have fled their homes.
Alhaji Hamisu’s whereabouts is also yet unknown since his release by the soldiers. We reported that the Nigeria Police was already combing the forest in Taraba in-search for the fleeing suspect.
However, latest report as of Tuesday revealed that the kidnapper’s last location was Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The police has since blocked all escape routes in Nasarawa, Taraba and other neighbouring states.
The millionaire kidnapper was described as a kind-hearted man who helps people. Residents around his area expressed shock over the recent revelations about him. According to them, he used to sell fish, but he suddenly became rich and started helping people.
