Court remand Atiku’s son-in-law, lawyer for alleged money laundering

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law, Abdullahi Babalele; and his lawyer, Uyiekpen Osagie-Giwa; for allegedly laundering $140,000 and $2million respectively.

The anti-graft alleges that Babalele and Osagie-Giwa who were arraigned separately laundered the huge sum during the build-up of the 2019 general elections.

Naija Buzz News had reported how Atiku’s lawyer was arrested by the anti-graft for allegedly laundering the huge sum of $2million.

The two who were arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The judge consequently remanded them in EFCC custody and adjourned the case till Thursday to take their bail applications.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contested the 2019 Presidential Election against President Muhamadu Buhari.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Buhari winner of the poll, but Atiku however vehemently rejected the result, saying that he is the authentic winner of the election according to results he obtained from the central server of the electoral umpire.
