Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the Ex-National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while speaking with journalists on Sunday says that no one knows the cause of the quarrel between Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole who is currently the APC National Chairman.
“All of us are dancing round the crisis, but we do not know what started the conflict between two friends,” Oyegun said at his home in Benin during his 80th birthday celebration.
The disagreement between Obaseki and Oshiomhole became very apparent following the emergence of principal officers of the Edo Assembly without majority of the members.
Naija Buzz News had reported how 9 members of the Edo Assembly were allegedly inaugurated around 9pm at night. These 9 members also elected principal officers of the assembly after their inauguration.
There are a total of 24 members in the state house of assembly. The remaining 15 had vehemently rejected their exclusion from the process.
Governor Obaseki however alleges that these 15 lawmakers were planted by Oshiomhole to impeach him from office.
Speaking further, Oyegun who was a former governor of Edo State and the immediate past National Chairman of the APC, said; “but for me, I listen to the people who said he is performing. Please, let him continue if the people feel he is doing well.
“Quite frankly, what is going on is ridiculous. We are beyond this kind. I am ashamed. Our people have contributed so much to the stability of the State.
“It is unfortunate that Edo State has been in the news for the very wrong reasons, apart from abusing ourselves, you (media) owe the nation a great commitment towards making sure that the truth prevail,” he added.
