1. Governor El-Rufai ahead of 2023 wants zoning of presidency abandoned

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has called for the abandonment of zoning arrangements for political offices in the country.

His call is apparently an arrangement ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election. He noted that the arrangement must be abandoned in favour of competence.

In 2023, it is expected that a southern would emerge as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) since President Muhammadu Buhari, a Northern, would have completed his 8years tenure.

2. El-Zakzay’s brother, Yakoob, says that his brother’s group (Shiite), is a terrorist organisation

Sheikh Mohammed Yakoob, the brother of Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (aka Shiites), alleges that Iran lured his brother into practising Shiite Islam with money.

Yakoob noted that Ibraheem was originally a Sunni, but Iran financed him heavily and he became a Shiite after visiting Iran. He (Ibraheem El-Zakzaky) revealed that he was promised to be appointed the Shiite ambassador in Nigeria.

He added that his brother’s group (Shiite) should have been proscribed long ago. He noted that the Shiites members invited trouble for block the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai. He described his brother’s group as a terrorist group.

3. House minority group urges FG to investigate killing of policemen by soldiers in Taraba

The Minority Caucus of the National House of Representatives-led by Ndudi Elumelu has condemned the killing of three policemen and a civilian by soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Taraba State.

The minority lawmakers consequently called for a setup of a judicial commission of enquiry over the incident.

Minority Leader Elumelu further asked the Federal Government to compensate the families of the slain policemen.

4. Teenager who impregnated 10 year-old-girl says she wasn’t a virgin when he met her

Terna Taga, 18 years old who impregnated a 10 year-old girl at an Internally Displaced Person camp, has revealed that he did not meet the girl a virgin.

The 10 year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl at the Foundation Memorial Hospital in Makurdi, Benue State on Sunday.

The teenager who is a farmer revealed that he slept with her twice in December 2018, but didn’t meet her a virgin.

5. Court orders APC to suspend indirect primary option in Kogi State

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday has ordered the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to suspend the plans to conduct an indirect primary for the selection of its Governorship Candidate ahead of the November 16, 2019, election in Kogi State.

The order came following an application filed before Justice Taiwo Taiwo by 4 factional executive committee of the APC in Kogi.
